Many states have a broad, multi-faceted advertising campaign to increase awareness and boost sales.<\/p>\n
One of the biggest problems associated with playing a lottery is that it promotes the false hope that money can solve all life\u2019s troubles. This thinking is rooted in a worldview that values wealth more than character, and it violates God\u2019s commandments against covetousness: \u201cYou shall not covet your neighbor\u2019s house, his wife, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that is his.”<\/p>\n
Another moral issue with the lottery is that it essentially amounts to regressive taxation. It hurts the poor and working classes more than the rich, since they are the ones who tend to play it most often.
