Benjamin Franklin used a lottery to raise money for cannons during the American Revolution, and Thomas Jefferson held a private lottery to help alleviate his crushing debts.<\/p>\n
While lottery games are fun and exciting, they can also be addictive. One of the biggest problems is that participants tend to covet money and all the things it can buy. This is a sin against God, which says, \u201cYou shall not covet your neighbor’s house, or his wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbors” (Exodus 20:17).
